Initially the name of the bank was “Security Bank and Trust Company” and it was the first privately owned and Filipino- controlled bank during the period of post-World War II. Security Bank has started creation of its branches so rapidly and did it so actively, that in 1950s it had much more branches in comparison with any other bank of that  times. Nowadays the number of security bank branches is around three hundred and is increasing.

From the year 1951 Security Bank remains one of the most stable banks in the Philippines with the wide range of financial and banking services. The number of its clients is increasing permanently and people claim that the bank’s services are on the highest level. Security bank head office is located in Makati, Philippines, where it moved in the year 1994. In the same year it also got the universal banking license.

Ownership of the Security Bank

The largest parts of Security Bank’s shares belong to:

  • PCD NOMINEE CORPORATION (NON-FILIPINO);
  • PCD NOMINEE CORPORATION;
  • THE BANK OF TOKYO MITSUBISHI UFJ, LTD (BTMU).

These shareholders have 30.9%, 29.48% and 20% of all Bank’s shares respectively. Smaller parts of shares belong to following security bank owners:

  • ASIASEC EQUITIES, INC. (4.25%);
  • FREDERICK Y. DY (4.16%);
  • FREDERICK Y. DY &/OR EVELYN DY (3.62%);
  • SOCIAL SECURITY SYSTEM (SSS) (3.24%).

We have already mentioned that there are around three hundred branches of Security Bank. Some of them work only five days a week, while some are also opened on Saturday.
